Né en 1947, François Le Diascorn a découvert la photographie en 1971, au cours d’un voyage en Inde. Membre de l’agence Viva (1973-1980), puis de l’agence Rapho, il a parcouru de nombreux pays du monde pour la presse ou des commandes officielles, mais aussi pour des travaux personnels. Son œuvre a fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions et de deux ouvrages publiés chez Créaphis : Only in America (2010) et Only in Paris (2014). Cet album se veut une rétrospective d’un demi-siècle de carrière, après la donation de son œuvre, qu’il a faite à l’État en 2019. Les 144 clichés ici rassemblés et commentés par l’auteur nous amènent à découvrir ou redécouvrir une œuvre dans laquelle François Le Diascorn et son œil malicieux absorbent le monde pour en révéler la poésie, l’exotisme, l’inattendu, l’excentrique et l’incongru : un livre aussi passionnant à regarder qu’à lire.
Born in 1947, François Le Diascorn discovered photography in 1971 during a trip to India. A member of the Viva agency (1973-1980) and then the Rapho agency, he has traveled to many countries around the world for the press or official commissions, but also for personal projects. His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions and two books published by Créaphis: Only in America (2010) and Only in Paris (2014). This album is intended as a retrospective of his half-century career, following the donation of his work to the French State in 2019. The 144 photographs gathered here and commented on by the author allow us to discover or rediscover a body of work in which François Le Diascorn and his mischievous eye absorb the world to reveal its poetry, exoticism, unexpectedness, eccentricity, and incongruity: a book that is as exciting to look at as it is to read.
